The Siberian cat is the ONLY cat breed that can legitimately claim the title of being hypoallergenic and they have the proof behind them to back it up. Many people who suffer with cat allergies can tolerate a Siberian cat very well. Most people with this type of allergy never experience any symptoms living with a Siberian. There are hundreds of testimonials proving this claim. Add me to the list. The Siberian has a much reduced level of FEL-D1, the potent “cat allergen”. Many people with cat allergies are allergic to this protein. The protein is deposited on the cats’ fur by their saliva when they are grooming themselves. When the fur dries, it then flakes off as dander and becomes the airborne allergen that triggers allergy symptoms in sensitive people. Most Siberian cats produce such a low level of the FEL-D1 compared to other pedigreed and domestic cats, due to a protein sequence missing in their DNA. This has given the Siberian cat the hypoallergenic title. When another breed is crossed with the Siberian, it can reintroduce this missing link.

If you have a pet-sensitive person in your home, be sure you’re getting a traditional Siberian kitten. Most of our cats have been tested by an international biotech firm and have some of the lowest levels possible of FEL-D1. For people who want to bring a pet into their lives without suffering with allergies, we’ve taken this extra measure to assure you of a kitten who will also be low in FEL-D1. A lot of other breeds are trying to get on the “hypoallergenic” band wagon. Don’t be misled by false claims about other cat breeds.
Allergy testing in your own home environment is actually the most accurate. Each home has its’ own unique environment that your system is already accustomed to. There may be elements in my home or someone else's that could interfere or trigger an allergic reaction. We do have allergy testing kits available. The kit contains fur samples from a number of our adult Siberian cats and comes with complete directions / instructions on how to test and work with the fur. This makes it convenient for you to test at your own time and pace. The fee is $50.00, non-refundable.

The Siberian cat has an incredible loving, gentle disposition with just the right amount of energy. They can be very playful, and also be calm and mellow. They have sweet, angelic faces and are quite beautiful to the eye. They have a medium to long coat on a rounded body, gorgeous neck ruff with long flowing fur on their bushy tails. The fur is like silk to the touch and is usually low maintenance. A weekly combing is usually all that is needed. Their coat will thicken and become very plush in their second winter. The Siberian has a solid, strong, muscular build with a large bone structure. They are slow to mature, are healthy and hardy, and get along great with other pets and children. They are a larger breed of cat and come in a palette of many colors and patterns. At Siberian Kittens And Cats, we specialize in shades of silver.
The Siberian is one of 3 “forest” cats. It is also one of the oldest “natural” breeds of cats. Siberians have been around for over a thousand years in their native Russia. In 1990, the first Siberian cat made the voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to step foot in the United States.
The personality of the Siberian is more doglike than feline. They communicate with expressive eyes, head butting, and vocalizing with chirping and trills. They love to be spoken to! They adore human interaction, will develop a strong bond to you, come when called and greet you at the door. They are highly intelligent and train easily. With their easy adaptability, gentle nature, intelligence, dog-like loyalty, and the fact that they are hypoallergenic, it’s no wonder that the Siberian cat makes the perfect companion in any household – whether it’s a large, young family or an older couple!
